VIRGIN AMERICA CHOOSES NAVAERO ELECTRONIC FLIGHT BAG SYSTEMS
Flexible, Efficient Technology is First-Ever Class 2 EFB System Installed on Airbus A320, the World's Most Popular Aircraft
BURLINGAME, CA (February 13, 2006) - Virgin America, a new U.S.-based airline start-up company, announces that it has
purchased navAero™ Class 2 t·BagC2² electronic flight bag (EFB) systems to be installed in its fleet
of Airbus A320 and A319 aircraft. As the first-ever Class 2 system to be outfitted in the Airbus A320, the navAero t·BagC2²
EFB provides a cost efficient computer and display hardware platform that can be used during all critical phases of flight —
taxi, take-off, landing.
"Personal computing technology is not new in the cockpit of commercial airlines; however, this advancement — the ability
to mount a portable system — allows Virgin America to realize the maximum return on our investment in EFB technology," said
Bob Weatherly, senior vice president of Flight Operations for Virgin America. "We can now automate all of the necessary pilot
paperwork to greatly help the airline increase efficiencies, save money and maximize our performance during all critical phases of
flight."
"An EFB system that is not mounted to the aircraft can have a very significant negative impact on aircraft operation —
as a device of that kind cannot be used during any of the critical phases of flight," according to Ken Crowhurst, executive
vice president and managing director of navAero. "Those are the times when an electronic flight bag can be of maximum benefit."
Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) engineering services for the navAero t·BagC2² EFB will be provided by Avionics Support
Group Inc., Miami, Florida.

NAVAERO ACHIEVES STC FOR T·BAG™C2² AS CLASS II EFB
December 9, 2005 Chicago, IL USA -- navAero Inc. has received Supplemental Type Certification (STC)
for its t·Bag™C2² electronic flight bag system installed as a Class II EFB on
a Boeing B737-800 aircraft for Miami Air International.
This STC of navAero's t·Bag™C2² computer and display system along with the Jeppesen Class I/II EFB
software is the first-ever deployment of an integrated Class II EFB system that will allow a commercial
operator to achieve a totally electronic "paperless solution" for charting.
navAero received the STC (Number ST03165AT) for B737NG installation on December 9, 2005 and plans a fleet-wide
deployment on Miami Air's Boeing B737-800 aircrafts. As a Class II device, the navAero t·Bag™C2² system is
suitable for use during all phases of flight.
Ken Crowhurst, navAero Executive Vice President and Managing Director, stated "The navAero t·Bag™C2²
Class II EFB computer and display technology gives aircraft operators a high quality, robust and cost
effective Class II hardware solution for charting applications as well as a platform to host a variety
of other aviation software designed to help them improve their operational performance. We are delighted
to have collaborated with Jeppesen on this initiative to provide a complete solution for an industry leader
like Miami Air as the launch customer for the B737-800."
"Miami Air weighed the benefits of EFB technology for several years. navAero's t·Bag™C2² was the
first hardware solution that made economic sense for our business model," stated Kurt Kamrad, Vice President Flight Ops for Miami Air.
"This new hardware capability will be used to run the Jeppesen EFB software with its terminal chart viewer which frees
flight crews from the constraints of paper, while maintaining the familiar look of Jeppesen's industry-standard charts.
Miami Air will also utilize the t·Bag™C2² EFB system for running a performance calculations application
which will significantly enhance our operations, as well as providing us with the platform to utilize the growing suite of EFB applications."
The navAero t·Bag™C2² hardware utilizes an Intel© Pentium M processor for fast, reliable operation. The system is capable of
running a Windows or Linux operating system. Airline-specific applications such as electronic flight manuals and charting, takeoff performance,
weight & balance calculations, and weather services can easily be integrated. It is designed to host functions such as video surveillance,
automated security, a document library, and wide range of data communications applications.
Miami Air International is a licensed U.S. air carrier operating a fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft from its base at the Miami
International Airport. The airline provides non-scheduled and charter services on a contract basis for customers worldwide including
the U.S. Military. For further information visit the Miami Air website at www.miamiair.com

JEPPESEN FURTHER STUDIES TERRAIN DATABASES AND SYNTHETIC VISION SYSTEMS
USING NAVAERO EFB
NEWS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 14, 2005
JEPPESEN FURTHER STUDIES
TERRAIN DATABASES AND SYNTHETIC VISION SYSTEMS
ENGLEWOOD, COLO., October 14, 2005 – Jeppesen, along with partners Swissphoto Group, Technical University Darmstadt and Swiss-Jet, is continuing to research and demonstrate high precision terrain databases and 3D synthetic vision systems (SVS) displays. During a recent demonstration flight, a team composed of Jeppesen executives, including president and COO, Mark Van Tine, flew southwest from Zürich through the Swiss Alps in a Swiss-Jet provided helicopter. The flight crew operated the helicopter in visual meteorological conditions, while the rugged terrain provided a perfect venue for the Jeppesen team to use a 3D SVS display to compare various levels of terrain data quality derived from different generation methods.
According to Van Tine, “The demonstration flight through the Swiss Alps gave us a first hand look at how very high-resolution terrain data and accurate aeronautical data can be utilized to render amazingly precise 3D synthetic views for improved situational awareness and safety. High precision terrain data will soon find its way to the flight deck, and one day, SVS displays will be commonplace. Jeppesen is committed to developing and providing the databases that make these systems possible.”
Swissphoto provided very high-resolution terrain data to drive the Technical University Darmstadt-developed SVS software, while navAero supplied the electronic flight bag computer hardware. Jeppesen, later in 2005, plans to begin making available a worldwide terrain database at 3 arc second (90 meter) resolution that will meet aviation quality requirements.
